  • Casimir ‘Casey” Sobczak, 96, of Hot Springs Village passed away on April 22, 2015 at Heritage of Hot Springs. He was born February 16, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois to Michael and Marie (Janicki) Sobczak. While he was still a young boy, his family returned to Poland where he completed his schooling. During World War II, he joined the Polish Army, and spent three years in a German prison camp. After liberation, he returned to the United States, settling in Chicago, where he met and married Dorothy Cypher in March 1947. He was employed by Motorola until his retirement, when they moved to Hot Springs Village, in the 1980’s.

    Casey enjoyed doing repairs of any kind, particularly electronics and watch repair, and continued this up until these became computerized. He also enjoyed fishing, and his time spent on the lakes of Wisconsin and Arkansas.

    He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, son Ron (Pat), daughter Diana (Bill), 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, his sister Adele (Ted) Hoffmann, and sister-in-law Irene, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by one grandson, Michael, and brothers Alfred (Anna) and Bernard.

    A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Hot Springs Village on April 28th at 11a.m.

    In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
